Tucked away on the banks of the chalky River Itchen just outside Winchester is the home and setting for flowers4good, creator of multi-sensory art installations for living spaces. These enchanting incantations capture the very essence of the natural sustainable world which two designers, Edit Rose and Anthony Harrison-Griffin both celebrate and cherish.
At its heart, flowers4good is an exquisitely conceived and crafted natural bamboo presentation pedestal, adorned with hand-made fabric floral creations. The installation effortlessly brings nature’s grand outdoor senses and grace inside.
Sustainability is at the heart of Edit and Anthony’s vision for flowers4good. Whether through use of local materials such as natural cotton and fast-growing abundant bamboo or the very essence of their installations, lasting forever, and never wilting. flowers4good endlessly invigorates the environment in which it is placed.
Uncompromising attention to detail, driven by the design ethos, creates wonderfully considered sculptural pieces. The shapes and colours of each flower’s petals and leaves, realised in natural cotton, bring a tactile texture and customization possibilities, creating countless floral arrangements.
The natural untreated patination of the bamboo’s surface creates warmth and smoothness to the touch. Once all combined, the flowers4good installation brings a mesmerising collection of sensory indulgence to any room, shaped by the natural world and each totally unique.
A true fusion of two creative design minds is in abundance throughout flowers4good. Edit’s natural talent as a seamstress has enabled her to create truly exceptional interpretations of iconic flowers. This, combined with Anthony’s product design skills and wealth of experience, brings wonderfully elegant and subtle touches to life. Whether through the lily’s stamens made from the bamboo sawdust, generated by the creation of the pedestal or the use of an enchanting watermill to power Edit’s studio, every material and possible natural resource, contributes to the creative process.
Not merely satisfied with just visual and textural components, the design vision behind flowers4good considered engaging other senses, starting with scent. Incorporating a room diffuser element into the design and then creating a signature, beautifully balanced subtle scent, Honesty, unifies the senses and makes flowers4good truly an expression of being “at Home in Nature”.
.
The Honesty scent had to be bespoke and locally produced. Edit and Anthony wanted to create a subtle essence which rather than overpowering the space, complements the environment within which the installation resides. Through their careful blending of freesia, pear and cinnamon, Honesty fills a room with a calm, glowing, accepting warmth, akin to sunlight through an open window overlooking the English countryside. Choosing the perfect scent is more art than science and is an expression of personal choice. Thus, flowers4good offers a wonderfully elegant simple sample of the Honesty scent, to try before purchase.
flowers4good, the project, though still young, is now fulfilling international commission orders, realising bespoke designs to meet exacting requirements from materials to colour matching.
The range will be expanding throughout 2022 with new and exciting installation experiences, to delight evermore senses.
